Mermaid Braid Tutorial…Quick Style!

Hey all,

So, I wanted to do a quick style on BB that was different.

Products Used:

Spray Water

Blended Beauty Natural Hair Oil

Blended Beauty Happy Nappy Cream

I started by putting all the products on her hair, and finger combing them through:

I then parted off the section I was going to flat twist and flat twisted it:

I then put her hair in a ponytail, and left some of her hair out on the side to add some pizzazz…

I made sure that the ponytail and flat twisted section were in tune with one another:

I then sectioned off the ponytail into two sections:

I braided each section to the end, and tied it off with a ponytail holder:

I then used FIVE bobby pins and pinned the braids together:

I don’t use the first hair band, I just pull my hair through the sock bun form, then use a band over that. Then I setcion into two parts and braid each setcion, then wrap the braids around the bun and poke the ends into the bun to hide them, using a couple of small bobby pins.

I’ve never heard of a “mermaid braid”. I like how simple it is though. I saw a video on youtube of a Caucasian lady doing a 5-strand braid in her daughter’s hair. It looks similar to this except it really is one braid made from 5 strands. Looks extremely difficult though. :)

Monique * I saw similar tutorials to that one, and I wanted to make it EASY for me and others who couldn’t quite get that (I couldn’t at the time)… SO, this was the next best thing to me! :)

I just recently came aoscrs your blog and LOVE it. I don’t comment a lot on any blog but now I just have to because this totally made my day. Genius! Up to now I had only seen these ugly frizzy plastic “donuts” for your hair but socks are so much more comfy, they’re besically free AND you can wash them from time to time! Thanks so much for another lovely tutorial!
